As the 2015 spring unfolded its way across southern France, Vanessa & Dan welcomed their close friends and family to the Perigord Noir to celebrate their wedding.
Being one of the first weddings of the season doesn’t come without its risks – colder temperatures and the risk of rain was on the forecast for their chateau wedding, but luck was on the side of this lovely English / American couple who now call Australia home.
The day went without a hitch – thanks to some amazing planning by Kate from Marry Me In France. She even organised for the mornings looming rain clouds to part ways just in time for a beautiful and intimate outdoor ceremony.
The ‘Highlights’ film really sums up the vibe of the day – Big smiles, mixing cultures (with guests present from all over the world) and the large contingent of kids just having an absolute blast..

I use sound recordings from the day, along with the best moments of the ceremony and speeches to create a storyline, then gently add layer upon layer of moments captured throughout the day – Morning preparations- and the subtle flusters of nervousness. The first look – and the emotions it reveals. The interactions of guests and the couple during the cocktails – as the butterflies settle and relaxed smiles reveal themselves. Reception excitement – from culinary discoveries to the tears & laughter during speeches.

Beautiful images and a story line are important for any wedding film, but i place particular importance in the colour grading of my films. It plays a huge role in the films overall impact and different colour palettes suit different environments – sharper images and contrasting textures for a city wedding, or maybe a softer pastel colour palette for a mediterranean wedding.
